A Short Ride to the Hamptons on the South Fork

We love that the cottage is a great location to easily enjoy the Hamptons without the enormous expense of staying there.

Westhampton is only 15 miles away from the cottage and the start of the towns that make up "the hamptons" which end in Montauk,  "the end" of the island.

Some of the best Ocean Beaches in the Country

The south shore of LI has some of the top-rated Ocean Beaches in the country. One of our favorites is Cupsogue Beach in Westhampton which is one of the prettiest public beaches on the east end. It is at the end of the famous Dune Road and has views of the ocean and the bay which makes it the perfect spot for sunset. In the summer, there is usually is a live band and the Beach Hut which serves food and a full bar. (Also on Dune Road is  Ponquogue Beach. outside the town of Hampton Bays. )

There are several towns that make up "the Hamptons" which are filled with restaurants, shoppes, entertainment and just oozing charm and affluence. If you chose to stay in Westhampton, we recommend dinner at Post Stop Cafe or the Margarita Grill on Main Street,  Baby Moon Restaurant for good Italian food. , get ice cream or a treat at the bakery

More to see and do on the South Fork

Keep driving to get the full tour of "The Hamptons". See iconic towns of the Hamptons like Southampton, Watermill, East Hampton, etc...

In Amagansett, visit The Stephen Talkhouse for music entertainment and a bit of very cool history... Stephen Talkhouse has hosted some of the greatest musicians in the world like;  Paul Simon, Paul McCartney, The Byrds, Van Morrison, The Band, The Allman Brothers Band.
Jefferson Airplane to name a few....but you'd never guess by the casual, unassuming vibe there. (see more)

Montauk, affectionately known as "The End" has a laid-back, beachy, family atmosphere and most visitors want to visit to the Montauk Lighthouse. Also visit Montauk Downs State Park for golf and a great pool open to the public for a nominal fee.

If you get to Sag Harbor, don't miss the  Elizabeth Morton National Wildlife Refuge where wild birds eat right out or your hand.

(You'll find traffic going east on the south fork is tough during the summer. We like to do these daytrips on a Tuesday or Wednesday to avoid some of the traffic.)
